No, SafaShield is a Safari content blocker and does not collect any information.
It will redirect any unsecure HTTP:// connection to secure HTTPS:// connection.
It will block any unsecure HTTP:// connection and this includes any search made via the Safari search bar because by default when you submit something on the search bar it is first done via unsecure connection. And a few milliseconds after, Safari will start Google with secure HTTPS:// connection.
The difference with "Force HTTPS" option is that this option will immediately block the unsecure connection. This can create some problems for users that commonly search things via the Safari search bar, thus it can be easier for beginner users to disable this option.
