Which version of iOS is supported?

SafaShield works on iPhone and iPad with at least iOS 13 and up.

Can I use SafaShield on a MacBook or iMac?

Yes, SafaShield works on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

How can I enable SafaShield extension on Safari?

On the iPhone/iPad open Settings -> Safari -> Extensions and enable SafaShield.

Does SafaShield block also ads on YouTube videos?

No, SafaShield does not support blocking of ads on videos.

What happens when a website is blocked?

You will get a gray screen on Safari with text "The URL was blocked by a content blocker".

Some websites still show some ads, what can I do?

You can contact us and let us know which is the website, so we can take a look at it.

Do you collect or sell my Internet activity?

No, SafaShield is a Safari content blocker and does not collect any information.

What is the "Force HTTPS" security rule?

It will redirect any unsecure HTTP:// connection to secure HTTPS:// connection.

What is the "Unsecure Connections" security rule?

It will block any unsecure HTTP:// connection and this includes any search made via the Safari search bar because by default when you submit something on the search bar it is first done via unsecure connection. And a few milliseconds after, Safari will start Google with secure HTTPS:// connection.

The difference with "Force HTTPS" option is that this option will immediately block the unsecure connection. This can create some problems for users that commonly search things via the Safari search bar, thus it can be easier for beginner users to disable this option.

Can I allow ads on some websites that I want to support?

Yes, click on Allow -> Acceptable Ads and add the website address, such as example.com

How can I allow a website so it is not blocked?

Click on Allow -> Domain Name and add the domain name to allow, such as example.com

Some websites detect the ad blocker, what now?

If a website detects our ad blocker you have a few options: [1] reload the page without content blockers (via aA button on the left side of the Safari address bar); [2] add the website on "Acceptable Ads" so ads are allowed; [3] go to another website that does the same thing.

I can still see some cookie banners, is it normal?

Yes, it is not possible to block every cookie-consent banner.

How can I block a domain TLD like .info or .net?

Click on Block -> Domain TLD and add the TLD you want to block, such as .info

How can I block a domain name and all its subdomains?

Click on Block -> Domain Name and add the domain name to block, such as example.net

How can I change the language of the app?

Click on Settings -> Select Language and select the desired language.

How can I export my custom allow and block rules?

Click on Settings -> Export Custom Rules, the exported file is saved on "On My iPhone" -> "SafaShield".

Where are saved the exported custom rules?

They are saved on "On My iPhone" -> "SafaShield".

How can I import all my previously exported custom rules?

Click on Settings -> Import Custom Rules, select the file and wait a few seconds.

Can I import my custom rules on another iPhone?

Yes, you can share the file via AirDrop and then import it with SafaShield.
